SHOWER CAPS

I cleaned out a drawer recently and found several shower caps from our travels. I have never been a shower cap person, but had tucked several in that drawer over the years "just in case."

Well, it shouldn't be hard to get rid of these, I thought.

And then it hit me: If this is big enough to fit over my head, what else might it cover? So, then I proceeded to see if the caps would work as dust protectors for settings that normally were covered by a glass dome at certain seasons.

And they do, nicely!

I practically had to stand on my head to get this picture on a low shelf at the foot of the bed in the guestroom, but here you can see a shower cap covering the Easter Egg-Dyeing dome scene. How neat is that for keeping the dust out while the setting is not displayed! And yet, if I wanted to show it to anybody, they could get a general idea of what is there; if they want to stand on their head to see it, that is. lol

And I really like the way this packet folds. I am going to scan it and save the image for future use. Printed out on cardstock, when I need something to package a small mini for mailing inside a larger envelope this might be quite useful.

SCRAPBOOKING FOLDING SCREEN

I found this online at a scrapbooking site when I was looking for something else. Although it wasn't on sale, it still seemed like a good deal because of its potential, so I ordered it.

I can see this folding screen used as is, but it also has lots of possibilities for decorating. I can see it standing inside a dome to provide lots of display space in some kind of shop. Add some hooks and hangers and it could work as clothing displays, or add shelves.

Or I could use it in the center of a dome, with perhaps Before and After on either side, or different seasons, or locales, or ....

This brand has lots of plain white items that have lots of possibilities for miniaturists.

CHRISTMAS TREE POTPOURRI BOX

I found this box of potpourri at Tuesday Morning for 50% off its already reduced price. Can't you just see three different Christmas rooms in each of the sections, or perhaps a different size decorated tree in each? Not sure how I will do it, but I like the idea.

It opens from the bottom, so the rooms would have to be finished from the top. A bit tricky; guess I'd need to glue everything in place on the floor and possibly tip it up into place. If that doesn't work, I guess I could always put a tall tree in it.

FROM LACE BINDING TO STOCKINGS

I had some pre-gathered lace in my stash that I wanted to use, but it was too thick at the top. When I snipped the stitches to remove the lace from the binding strip, there was a perfect little tulle-like tube which is great for making stockings on dolls.

I can see making little stocking packets with instructions as gifties, using the tulle strips that I found on white, black and ecru lace.  I haven't tried it, but I'm guessing that the white strips could be tea- or coffee-dyed too, if you wanted more muted colors.

PENCIL SHARPENER

This perfect little fire extinguisher was one of a packet of six pencil sharpeners. Some black paint for the handle, perhaps some metal touches, it should be very useful.

Hmm. with a little tweaking it might work as one of those gas can thingies that you see on the back of travel trailers, too.

SMALL SHADOWBOX

I found this little shadowbox at the Goodwill store. It measures 6 1/4 wide by 5 1/2 inches tall, perfect as a quarter scale display. It is only an inch deep, but should work for certain pieces. Maybe the whole thing could become an attic.

I won't even have to do anything to it, if I don't want to wallpaper it; it's already nicely Shabby Chic.
